DSS arrest fake checkpoint operator in Benue
Orih Joseph, a well-known illegal checkpoint operator, has been taken into custody by Benue State Department of State Services agents. Joseph is accused of being the brains behind the unauthorised roadblocks in Benue South, also referred to as Zone C in the state.
In a statement, Jacinta Bernard, the Acting Executive Chairman of the Benue Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Media Assistant, stated that the kingpin was taken into custody following the failure of all attempts to remove him and his gang members from their illegal activities.
In response to the news, Emmanuel Agema, the Acting Executive Chairman of BIRS, praised the DSS agents' efforts in securing Joseph's arrest. He declared that the state's attempts to eradicate all illegal roadblocks and other fraudulent acts related to tax collection had been greatly aided by his detention.
Mr. Agema promised that the organisation he oversaw would provide the state's security forces with the assistance they needed to guarantee the arrest of Joseph's gang members and any others who might still be operating covertly in some areas of the state.
