Shortly after being granted bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, was taken into custody by DSS agents, according to Premium Times. 

After being released on bail at approximately 8 p.m., DSS agents reportedly waited at the EFCC headquarters to pick up El-Rufai. 

According to reports, he was arrested on suspicion of illegally intercepting National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu's phone conversations. 

Due to allegations of corruption connected to his government, the former governor—a well-known leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC)—had earlier accepted the EFCC's invitation on Monday.

He and hundreds of his followers arrived at the EFCC offices. This comes after El-Rufai barely avoided being arrested last Thursday at Abuja's Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. 

In a series of interviews after the airport incident, he charged that NSA Nuhu Ribadu was responsible for the attempted arrest.
