Ebonyi PDP expels south-east national vice-chairman
Ali Odefa, the national vice-chairman in the southeast, was sacked by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi due to alleged anti-party activities.
Odefa was suspended in October by the PDP executive committee in Oguduokwor ward, Onicha LGA of Ebonyi. Odefa's suspension as the national vice-chairman of the party in the southeast was later upheld by a federal high court in the state.
Onyeka Ovuta, the acting chairperson of the PDP in Oguduokwor, declared Odefa's expulsion from the party during a news conference held in Onicha LGA on Wednesday. According to Ovuta,
Odefa was expelled after a disciplinary commission recommended it, confirming the claims of his anti-party activity.
“PDP, Oguduokowor Ward, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State hereby announces the expulsion of Ali Odefa, the suspended National Vice Chairman of the party, South East Zone, from the party, which takes immediate effect,” he said.
“The expulsion of Odefa follows the report, findings, and recommendations of the Ward Disciplinary Committee of the party, which is in line with the provisions of the party constitution.
“The Executive Committee of PDP Oguduokwor Ward on 11th December 2024, after receiving the report, findings, and recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee of PDP Oguduokwor ward, unanimously approved the expulsion of Odefa.
“This is in compliance with section 58(1) and section 59(1) of the PDP constitution. Henceforth, Chief Ali Odefa ceases to be a member of our party.”
