Edo gets Edwin-Iwo as new commissioner police

Nemi Edwin-Iwo, a new commissioner of police, has been assigned to the Edo State Police Command. 

The new commissioner replaced CP Funsho Adegboye as the 47th commissioner of the command on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, according to the DAILY POST. 

According to a statement released by the Command's public relations officer, SP Moses Yamu, Edwin-Iwo was the Commissioner of Police responsible for intelligence in the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja, prior to his recent transfer. 

Originating from the Okrika Local Government Area in Rivers State, Edwin-Iwo has a master's degree in industrial relations from the University of Ibadan and a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Port-Harcourt.

As a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, he joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 and advanced through the ranks. 

Among his many positions, Edwin-Iwo held the positions of Assistant Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State Command and Commissioner of Police at the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) Force Headquarters in Abuja. 

In the past, he held the positions of Divisional Police Officer in Bayelsa State and Police PRO in Lagos and Oyo states. 

The incoming commissioner has taken various leadership and tactical courses both domestically and abroad. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, or IACP.
