Edo police arrest two suspects in possession of firearms
Two guys were taken into custody by the Edo State Police Command for having firearms during a regular stop-and-search in Benin City.
The Ugbekun Division police arrested Collins Evbayiro, 34, and O. Nagbagbonmuna, 35, along Upper Sakponba Road, according to a statement issued by the command on X on Thursday.
According to the statement, two live cartridges and a locally manufactured, cut-to-size double barrel rifle were discovered with the suspects. The things were found in their Toyota Yaris, which had the license plate BEN 777 XE.
“Officers of Ugbekun Division, while on stop-and-search along Upper Sakponba, arrested Collins Evbayiro, 34, and O. Nagbagbonmuna, 35, in possession of a locally made cut-to-size double-barrel gun with two live cartridges, in a Toyota Yaris car, registration number BEN 777 XE,” the Edo State Police Command said.
The incident is still being looked into by the authorities in order to ascertain the suspects' motivations and any possible links to illegal activity.
