Edo police detain 23-year-old man in possession of two guns
Officers from the Edo State Police Command have detained Rukevwe George, a 23-year-old dropout from secondary school, on suspicion of possessing guns.
At a place in the state capital of Benin, Rukevwe was taken into custody.
One automatic double barrel rifle made in another country and one single barrel gun made in the country were taken into custody by the suspect, who was a student at Baptist Medical Centre Secondary School in Eku, Delta State.
Rukevwe, who was dressed in military camouflage, claimed that the guns belonged to his now-fugitive boss, Ralph, in an interview with journalists.
But Rukevwe was unable to clarify how he came to possess the military uniform.
Funsho Adegboye, the State Commissioner of Police, revealed that there has been an increase in crime in the state recently as he presented him among other criminals.
He claims that after asking Rukevwe some questions, a search was conducted, and the two gums were found.
“He accepted that the two guns were given to him by the person who hosted him. Our operatives have been on the trail of the suspect and the l?ng arms of the law will soon catch up with him.
“He is yet to give a satisfactory explanation as to what he does in military camouflage.
The Edo CP however assured that the fleeing suspect would soon be arrested and prosecuted with his brother.
