EFCC apprehends nine over online scam in Abuja
Nine people have been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on suspicion of participating in online fraud.
The Abuja Zonal Directorate of the Commission conducted an intelligence-led operation that resulted in their arrest on Monday in the Wuye neighbourhood of Abuja.
An EFCC statement posted on Tuesday via X said, “Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abuja Zonal Directorate, have arrested nine suspected internet fraudsters.
“They were arrested on Monday, 29 July 2024, at Wuye axis of Abuja following credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet-related fraud.”
During the operation, several items were recovered from the suspects.
The statement added, “Items recovered from them include 19 phones, one car, four laptops and one iPad.”
The Commission added, "The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded," to further convey its desire to take the accused to court.
