EFCC arrest 11 suspected online scammers in Port Harcourt
Eleven alleged online scammers have been taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, according to its agents at the Port Harcourt Zonal Command.
The suspects were taken into custody on Friday following a sting operation that was conducted in the Whimpey, Ada George neighbourhood of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, according to a statement released by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale.
The statement said that the arrests came after several days of surveillance in the areas and reliable intelligence on their purported online fraud activities.
“Arrested with them are four cars, diverse brands of phones and laptop computers containing fraudulent documents.”
After the investigations are over, Oyewale stated that the suspects will face charges in court.
