EFCC arrests 40 online fraudsters in Abuja raid
In Abuja on Friday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) detained 40 alleged online scammers. 18 individuals were apprehended in the Dawaki area of the capital city as a result of the morning operation, which was conducted in response to reliable information regarding the suspects' involvement in many online fraud schemes.
An additional 12 suspects were detained in other locations throughout the city. Based on reports from concerned citizens, the EFCC team ambushed the accused, surprising them.
23 phones, 4 laptops, and 4 cars were taken from the suspects by the agents; these items were thought to be the earnings of their illicit activities.
The suspects, who are primarily young adults, were discovered to have engaged in phishing, internet fraud, romance scams, and other types of cybercrime, according to reports. Upon completion of the investigations, charges will be brought against them in court.
