EFCC declares Emefiele's wife, three others wanted for extortion

The wife of the troubled former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, Margaret Dumbiri Emefiele, was proclaimed sought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday.

The anti-graft agency also proclaimed Eric Ocheme Odoh (m), Jonathan Omoile (m), and Anita Joy Omoile (f) wanted due to allegations that they conspired with the previous CBN governor to launder "huge sums of money" that belonged to the federal government.

In a public announcement, the EFCC also charged the individuals on the wanted list with felonies, including theft and obtaining money under false pretences, both of which are illegal under Lagos State's Criminal Law Sections 411, 287, and 314.

It asked anyone with knowledge of the whereabouts of the individuals on its wanted list to get in touch with any of its offices or give 08093322644.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria is presently on trial for a total of twenty counts of amended charges, which include conspiracy, forgery, criminal breach of trust, conferment of corrupt advantages, and obtaining money under false pretences totaling $6,230,000.00.
