EFCC detains 15 online fraudsters in Zaria
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared that fifteen alleged online scammers have been apprehended in Zaria, Kaduna State. The suspects were detained outside Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, according to a statement issued by the anti-graft agency on Thursday via X.
This was due to reliable information that connected a group of scammers to possible involvement in online fraud.
Consequently, the EFCC agents acted fast on the intelligence acquired, leading to the arrest of the suspects in the neighbourhood of the university. Items were taken from the suspects during the arrest.
“Items recovered from them include cell phones and laptops. The suspects were immediately moved to the Kano Zonal Command of the EFCC for a more thorough investigation.
“They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the statement added.
In Enugu State, agents of the EFCC's Enugu Zonal Command detained 23 alleged online scammers on Wednesday.
