EFCC detains ten illegal mining suspects in Ogbomoso
On Tuesday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced that it had detained ten individuals in Oyo state who were allegedly unlicensed miners.
The suspects were taken into custody in Ogbomoso, according to an EFCC statement. The commission reported that six fully loaded trucks containing lithium were found with the suspects.
According to the commission, Yunusa Adisa, Ganiyu Kazeem, Muideen Babayemi, Sulaiman Usman, and Adeleke Waliu were among the accused.
The statement lists Tiamiyu Rokeeb, Olusola Sunday, Oyedokun Oluwagbemiga, Sulaimon Ishiaq, and Olufimihan Eniola as other suspects detained by the commission.
In a statement issued by Head of Media and Publicity Dele Oyewale, the EFCC stated that the arrest came about as a result of reliable information regarding their possible involvement in illicit mining of solid mineral resources in the state.
In the statement, Oyewale disclosed that following the completion of the investigations, charges would be brought against the offenders.
