EFCC detains two for suspected involvment in illegal forex trading

Two people who are suspected of being illegal currency traders have been taken into custody by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Uyo Zonal Command: Surajo Umar and Muhammad Sadiq Lawal.

The EFCC claimed in a post on its official X feed on Friday that they were detained while selling dollars without the proper licences on Udi Street in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

According to the statement, credible intelligence on Umar and Lawal's suspected involvement in illicit foreign exchange operations led to their detention.

It further stated that as soon as the investigations are over, charges will be brought against them in court.
