EFCC detains woman for spraying money at social event in Gombe
According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), a woman named Janty Emmanuel was taken into custody by its agents in Gombe for allegedly misusing naira during a social gathering.
The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said in a statement on Tuesday that Emmanuel was taken into custody on Monday after it was observed that she had been spray-painting naira notes during a function.
After seeing a piece of video evidence, Oyewale claimed that Emmanuel confessed to perpetrating the crime.
He also stated that the suspect will face charges in court once all inquiries into the case have been completed.
"Upon arrest, the suspect was shown the video where she was dancing at G-Connect, Tumfure, Gombe State and spraying Naira notes of N1000 denomination,” the statement reads.
“She admitted committing the crime. She will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
The organisation declared on Monday that it had succeeded in convicting 31 people who had engaged in illicit money exchange and naira abuse in Kano.
The social media star Bobrisky was given a six-month prison sentence last month for misusing naira currency.
