EFCC questions ex-Women Affairs Minister Tallen over N2bn fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is now holding Mrs. Pauline Tallen, the previous minister of women's affairs and social development, on suspicion of money laundering.
Sources with knowledge of the situation verified to our correspondent that Tallen was questioned by EFCC agents at their zonal office in Wuse, Abuja.
Despite the lack of specifics surrounding the accusations made against the former minister, a source with knowledge of the matter informed Saturday PUNCH that a sum of N2bn was at risk of corrupt enrichment.
“The ex-minister arrived at our Abuja Zonal Command (not the headquarters), on invitation, at about 12pm, but she is still being grilled by investigators of the commission as at 8:30 pm.
“She’s being investigated for alleged misappropriation of funds and corrupt enrichment to the tune of N2bn, and part of the money was allegedly diverted from the African First Lady Peace Mission Project.â€
Wilson Uwujaren, the commission's spokesperson, was unavailable as of the time of publication.
