EFCC re-arrests Kaduna ex-governor, Mukhtar Yero
Mukhtar Yero, a former governor of Kaduna State, was re-arrested on Monday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on eight revised money laundering allegations before Justice R.M. Aikawa of the Federal High Court in Kaduna.
The re-arrest follows the state's transfer of Justice M.G. Umar, the former trial judge.
Yero is being prosecuted by the EFCC along with Nuhu Wya (former minister), Ishaq Hamsa (former secretary to the Kaduna State Government), and Abubakar Haruna (former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state), for their alleged roles in the receipt and distribution of the sum of N700 million paid to them by a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, in order to influence the
The prosecution's attorney, Nasiru Salele, informed the court that the case was for the defendants to be re-arrested and begged the court to ask them to enter pleas, according to a statement from the EFCC that was received by our reporter.
