Eid-el-Kabir: Sultan Abubakar declares June 28 as 10th of Dhul-Hijja
The 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah 1444 AH in Nigeria has been announced to be Wednesday, June 28, by Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto.
This was said in a statement made on Monday in Sokoto by Alhaji Sa'idu Maccido, the Secretary to the Sultanate Council.
“Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, the President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has declared Monday, June 19, as the first day of Dhul-Hijjah 1444 AH.
“Therefore, Wednesday, June 28, which will be equivalent to 10th of Dhul-Hijjah will be marked as 2023 Eid-el-Kabir,†he said.
He congratulated the Muslim community and wished it Allah's blessings and guidance.
In addition, he wished Nigerians a good Eid-el-Kabir and urged Muslims to keep praying for the country's peace, progress, and development.
The Islamic calendar's 12th and final month, Dhul-Hijjah, is when Muslims perform the Hajj, an annual trip, and celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, a holiday that involves the slaughter of rams and other animals.
