Ekiti Assembly Speaker, Funminiyi Afuye, congratulates Fayemi on his election as FORAF president

The Ekiti State House of Assembly's Speaker, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye has congratulated Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the governor of Ekiti State, on becoming the new head of the Forum of Regions of Africa (FORAF).

The Speaker called the new post a huge step forward for Nigeria as a whole in a press release signed by his special adviser on media and publicity, Akogun Tai Ogunyayo.

He declared that "Dr. Fayemi is a pride, not only to Ekiti State but to the entire nation."

In addition to serving as Chairman of the Nigerian Governors' Forum (NGF), Governor Fayemi was chosen at the conference, which attracted governors and attendees from roughly 22 African nations.

The Speaker said, "Among the community of States in Nigeria, Ekiti has now been taken to the global stage where regional issues were discussed and memoranda of understanding (MOUs) made on many fields of world economy."

In the sectors of agriculture, mining, education, scholarships, and many others, this new accomplishment, according to the press release, "would be advantageous to our State in particular and Nigeria as a whole."

Afuye said that "this is the first time such an international honour will be awarded to the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors' Forum (NGF) since its formation." He was pleased to learn that other nations had withdrawn their proposals for Nigeria.

The forum's presidency was won by Nigeria, a country in West Africa, while vice presidents were elected for Southern Africa's South Africa, East Africa's Kenya, Northern Africa's Morocco, and Central Africa's Cameroon.

States (also known as Regions, Counties, or Provinces in other nations) are brought together by FORAF to form a recognised continent.
