Electricity tariff slashed for band A customers in Ikeja

The power cost for Band A consumers of Ikeja Electric has been reviewed decreased, going from N225 kilowatt hours to N206 kilowatt hours.

The distribution business released a notice to the public stating that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission's (NERC) May 2024 Supplementary Order included the cut.

The notice read, “Dear esteemed customers, please be informed of the downward tariff review of our Band A feeders from N225/kwh to N206.80/kwh effective 6th May 2024 with guaranteed availability of 20-24hrs supply daily.”

It further said that Bands B, C, D, and E continue to be subject to the same tariff. Remember that in order to increase liquidity in the power industry, NERC approved an upward review for Band A consumers in April, moving them up from N68.

This change was referred to as a service reflective pricing. Due to the increase, the Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) are now required to guarantee that consumers falling within the band receive at least 20 hours of power per day.
