Given his estimated net wealth of $260 billion, Musk could easily afford to purchase the Old Trafford team.
Red Devils supporters have been protesting and calling for the Glazer family, the current club owners, to leave since they are no longer at ease with them.
After suffering two humiliating losses in their first two games, Manchester United is currently languishing at the bottom of the Premier League standings.
According to Reuters, the club's market value was above $2 billion as of this Tuesday's stock exchange.
Additionally, as of May, Forbes valued Manchester United at about $4.6 billion, with over $633 million in sales the previous year.
The Red Devils will play Liverpool in the Premier League on Monday and will be hoping to get back to winning ways.
