Elon Musk: Twitter sets daily reading limits for unverified users
The quantity of posts users can read each day on Twitter has been temporarily limited, according to Tesla Inc.'s billionaire founder Elon Musk.
Musk, the company's chairman and CTO, stated in a tweet on Saturday that the move aims to address problems with "data and systems manipulation."
Verified users, according to him, will be able to read 6,000 posts a day, while unverified and new users would only be able to read 600 and 300 posts, respectively.
Musk did not specify the start date or duration of the temporary limits, though.
“To address extreme levels of data scraping and system manipulation, we’ve applied the following temporary limits,†Musk tweeted.
“Verified accounts are limited to reading 6,000 posts per day. Unverified accounts to 600 posts per day. New unverified accounts to 300 per day.â€
The billionaire noted that readership limitations for users would subsequently increase by around 33 percent in a related tweet.
“Rate limits increasing soon to 8,000 for verified, 800 for unverified, and 400 for new unverified,†Musk added.
Since Musk acquired control of the microblogging service, Twitter has added a number of features and modifications.
The business developed a subscription plan for the verified blue tick mark in 2022.
