EU Suspends Visa: Russia Warns Of Effects
The EU has been threatened with penalties by Russia for suspending visas for its citizens.
As the crisis in Ukraine rages on, the European Union (EU) stated on Wednesday that it would suspend visa requirements for Russian nationals in order to reduce border crossings from Russia into the EU.
Russia will determine what to do in reprisal, according to the official news agency, RIA Novosti.
Alexander Grushko, the deputy foreign minister for Russia, said in an interview with RIA Novosti that the country has not yet decided what course of action it will pursue.
"There would be repercussions if the EU violated, avoided, or abandoned the visa facilitation deal with Russia.
“We’ll decide for ourselves whether the measures will be symmetrical, asymmetric or something that the EU does not expect.
“If Brussels decides to shoot itself in the foot again, then it is their choice,†he said.
