Fani Kayode reacts to terrorist attack on Buhari's convoy
Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode said the federal government could no longer defend the current situation of insecurity in the country.
Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, recently said that Nigeria is doing better in terms of security now than it was in 2015 when the current government took power.
However, according to the DAILY POST, President Muhammadu Buhari's convoy was attacked by gunmen suspected to be bandits on the same day that another group of gunmen suspected of being members of Boko Haram attacked the Kuje prison.
And in response, Fani Kayode, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, told APC that Nigeria is now the capital of mass murder and terrorism.
The former minister listed recent killings and terrorist activities in the country, including: "Abuja's Kuje prison attacked and bombed.
“President's convoy attacked; 45 people killed in attack in Niger; 90 people killed in attack in Zamfara; 50 people killed in attack on a church in Ondo.â€
He concluded: “We are now the mass murder and terrorism capital of the world! This is INDEFENSIBLE!"
Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu said in a statement Tuesday evening: "The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repulsed by military, police and DSS personnel escorting the convoy.
"Two people in the convoy are being treated for minor injuries."
