Father apprehended for raping teenage daughter in Lagos
Emmanuel Orekoya, 52, has been charged with having carnal knowledge of his daughter, 17, in front of the Ebute Meta Magistrate's Court.
The defendant was charged with two counts of having carnal knowledge of the minor and illegally sticking his finger into her private areas.
Inspector Osagiede Orobosa, the police prosecutor, testified in court that the accused committed the offence at his home on Jacob Adeleye Street in Odo-Eran, Itire, Lagos State, at some point in 2017.
The charges read in part, “That you, Emmanuel Orekoya, of Jacob Adeleye Street, Odo-Eran, Itire, within the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully have carnal knowledge of your daughter (name withheld) by inserting your manhood into her private parts, sometime in 2017, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.â€
The accused were remanded in custody pending legal counsel from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, as directed by the Chief Magistrate, Folarin Williams.
It was postponed until January 16, 2023.
