FG endorses N25,000 allowance for medical doctors, dentists

The federal government has authorised the payment of a unique allowance of N25,000 to medical practitioners working in federally funded clinics, hospitals, and medical facilities.

A document titled "Accoutrement allowance for medical and dental doctors in hospitals, medical centres, and clinics in federal MDAs" dated July 26, 2023, contained the clearance.

The Nigerian Medical Association's (NMA) president, Dr. Uche Ojinmah, stated that the organisation was appreciative that the government had taken action with reference to one of its agreements and that it awaited the full fulfilment of the agreements they had.

According to a letter announcing the benefit on Thursday, the federal government had approved paying medical and dental professionals employed by federally funded hospitals, clinics, and medical centres an accoutrement allowance of N25,000 per quarter. The benefit will be paid out of the overhead budget.

According to the letter, “The approval takes effect from June 1, 2023. All inquiries relating to this circular should be directed to the commission.”
