FG kickstarts repair of electricity towers for Northern power outage
To restore the bulk power supply in the North, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) engineers have started their work. Sunday Dare, President Bola Tinubu's Special Advisor for Public Communication and Orientation, attested to the repairs.
The 330 kV Ugwaji–Apir double circuit transmission lines 1 and 2 failed at 4:53 am on 22 October "due to a fault," causing a power outage across the northeast, northwest and portions of north central, according to TCN.
In the past two weeks, 17 Northern states—aside from Niger and Kwara—have been without energy.
With no supplies for the past two weeks, Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Gombe, and Katsina are the most severely impacted.
The others are the Plateau, Niger, Sokoto, Zamfara, Bauchi, Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Kogi, and Benue.
Dare, on his x (formerly Twitter), said: “Shiroro-Kaduna Line Vandalization Repairs. This picture speaks. There is a massive ongoing effort to fix the lines and restore power to the affected areas.
“Since President Tinubu gave marching orders, efforts have tripled with constant briefings.
“We applaud the TCN Engineers up there for the risks they take and their national service.”
