FG suspends Dana Air licence following airport incident
Dana Air's Air Operators Certificate has been suspended by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
This occurred just twenty-four hours after an Abuja-bound Dana Air aircraft touched down on the Lagos airport runway before swerving into a neighbouring field.
The aircraft, registered 5N BKI, belonged to Dana Air and carried 83 passengers.
All of the crew and passengers, however, disembarked safely. Responding quickly to the situation, law enforcement and emergency services launched an investigation to determine the true nature of the occurrence.
The NCAA stated that it was critical to audit the carrier's activities while waiting on the results of the Nigerian Safety and Investigation Bureau's probe.
The NCAA announced the suspension of the airline's AOC in a letter written by Acting Director NCAA Chris Najomo and bearing the reference number NCAA/DGCA/DANA/1/24/001.
NCAA added that, in light of Dana's prior performance in similar incidents, it has started an internal compliance examination of the incident while it awaited the Nigeria Safety inquiry Bureau's inquiry findings.
