FG to launch 2700 CNG buses, tricycles by May
Before President Bola Tinubu celebrates his one-year anniversary on May 29, the Presidency stated on Sunday that it was prepared to introduce roughly 2,700 CNG-powered buses and tricycles.
Before the end of 2024, it stated, the Federal Government will provide 60 refuelling stations and 100 conversion workshops distributed over 18 states.
This was disclosed in a statement that Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President's Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, signed on Sunday and headed "Presidential CNG initiative set for rollout."
“From the end of May, Nigeria will take some baby steps to join such nations that already have large fleets of CNG vehicles.
“All is now ready for delivery of the first set of critical assets for deployment and launch of the CNG initiative ahead of the first anniversary of the Tinubu administration on May 29.
“About 2,500 of the tricycles will be ready before May 29, 2024…working towards delivering 200 units before the first anniversary of the Tinubu administration,” said the Presidency.
It further stated that the first phase of production, scheduled to be completed in 2024, aims to produce about 600 buses in total.
