FG to shut down Third Mainland Bridge January 24
The Iyana-Oworonshoki-Adeniji Adele section of the Third Mainland Bridge will be closed in two phases starting the second week of January 2024, indefinitely, according to plans finalised by the Federal Government.
The duration of each phase is set at six weeks.
The scheduled closure is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, according to a statement released by the Federal Controller of Works for Lagos State, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha.
According to Kesha, the bridge's carriageway that leads to Lagos Island will be closed off in itsTherefore, she urged drivers to follow traffic laws and take alternate routes in order to avoid inconvenience while extensive repairs are being made to the highway.
Recall that prior to the most recent scheduled repairs, the 11.8 km Third Mainland Bridge underwent a number of rehabilitations.
The longest of the three bridges linking Lagos Island to the Mainland and the second longest in Africa is set to undergo extensive rehabilitation.
