FG to shut Third Mainland Bridge for 24 hours
The Federal Ministry of Works intends to completely close the Third Mainland Bridge, and the Lagos State Government has issued notification of this.
The state’s Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who announced this, explained that “The planned total closure, which is to allow the contractor to execute a major aspect of the ongoing repair works on the bridge, will affect both bounds of the carriageways from noon tomorrow, Wednesday, 28 to noon on Thursday, February 29, 2024.”
As a result, all users of the road are urged to take the alternate routes that have been made available during this time, as the Third Mainland bridge will not be accessible to traffic for a full day.
Among the other routes he mentioned were Funsho Williams Avenue, which connects Carter Bridge and Eko Bridge via Ijora.
Osiyemi thanked the public for their cooperation and patience, but she also gave the assurance that traffic management personnel would be present to control traffic and lessen disruptions.
In order to maintain smooth traffic at the time, he asked drivers to abide by the traffic and law enforcement that would be controlling the traffic.
