Finitri declares 24-hour curfew as residents loot warehouse in Adamawa
Following a breakdown of law and order throughout the State, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri imposed a 24-hour curfew.
The situation came when individuals broke into warehouses and took off various commodities and other valuables while claiming to be searching for "palliatives."
In a statement made available to LEADERSHIP on Sunday afternoon, the governor's chief press secretary, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, stated that the curfew will start on Sunday, July 30, 2023.
In the announcement, Governor Fintiri said that the curfew was necessary due to the violent nature the hoodlums' actions had taken on in the state capital city, where they had been attacking people with matches and breaking into people's houses and businesses to steal their possessions.
“With the curfew imposed, there will be no movement throughout the state,†he declared.
He said only those on essential duties with valid identification would be permitted to move around during the period of the curfew.
“The Governor is appealing to citizens and residents of the state to comply with the directive,†he stated, adding that any person found contravening the order would be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.
