Fire guts Ebonyi night club, millions of properties destroyed
The well-known Roky Fella Night Club, on Udoji Street in Kpirikpiri, Abakaliki, was completely destroyed by an early-morning fire on Wednesday, destroying millions of naira worth of property.
Mr. Raphael Ibiam, the Chief Fire Officer of Ebonyi, verified the occurrence to reporters, stating that he received a distress call about it at approximately 6.30 am.
“Items lost to the inferno included a generator, three big refrigerators, a bush bar, drinks and empty crates, among others,†he said.
Ibiam stated that the reason for the fire was still unknown.
He claimed that the building, which has a bar, restaurant and club in the middle, was completely destroyed by fire, taking important stuff with it.
Ibiam claimed that as his guys moved quickly to stop the fire from getting out of control, no lives were lost in the incident.
“We were not called early enough and when I got the information, I immediately mobilised my men to the scene.
“Unfortunately, the fire had burnt down the entire clubhouse.
“We did our best to prevent it from extending to other nearby houses,†Ibiam said.
