Fire guts Lagos market, destroys goods worth millions of naira
The Alaba Rago Market in Lagos State's Ojo Local Government Area was damaged by an early-morning fire on Wednesday, destroying millions of naira's worth of items.
Femi Oke-Osayintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, stated that the fire began at midnight. As of the time of publication, the cause of the fire was unknown.
Following a distress call, the LASEMA team promptly arrived to the market, according to Oke-Osayintolu, who also stated that the authority deployed a team from Igando to assist and activated the state's emergency response plan.
He added that firefighters from the state Fire and Rescue Service, along with LASEMA and other emergency personnel, were on the site attempting to extinguish the fires after the team discovered some improvised stores already on fire when they arrived.
They have managed to contain the fire.
