Fire guts warehouse in Lagos, destroys properties
In a tough encounter that took place during fighting patrols in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, troops and special forces of the Nigerian Army neutralized 11 bandits.
Property was destroyed by a fire that broke out at the Flux Logistics warehouse in the Lagos State neighbourhood of Ikeja.
No casualties were reported, it was learned.
On Ikeja's Sapara Street, off of Oba Akran Avenue, the company's warehouse was hit by the fire, which the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service fought to put out.
The fire was said to have begun on Sunday morning around 8:58.
Adeseye Margaret, the director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, stated that the fire was put out by crews from Ikeja, Alausa, and Bolade. She also assured that all necessary precautions had been taken to prevent the fire from spreading outside of the store.
The fire was also reported by the National Emergency Management Agency via its Lagos Territorial Office.
Ibrahim Farinloye, the state coordinator for NEMA Territorial Office, claimed that the fire completely destroyed the business, which had imported beverages and a small number of foreign goods.
He said, “It was reported that the staff members on duty could have prevented the spread of the fire from the beginning but the fear of the owners could not make them break into the warehouse.
“Until the owners arrived and ordered them to break the doors but the situation had gone out of hands.â€
He claimed the Berger Paints Fire Service put in a valiant effort to stop the fire from spreading to the SKG Pharmaceutical Company.
