Fire razes Christ Apostolic Church in Ibadan
Several worshippers were trapped during a Friday vigil when a fire broke out at the Christ Apostolic Church in Wisdom Estate, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Friday night.
On Saturday morning, sources confirmed the event, which happened on Olohunda Road in the Lagelu Local Government Area at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Some attendees had slept off before the vigil, according to witnesses, when the fire broke out.
One witness stated, “Some people had already slept off when the fire started.”
Another eyewitness described the desperate situation inside the church, saying, “An elderly woman who could barely walk was still inside the church when the fire was raging.”
A householder called the Oyo State Fire Services, who then arrived on the site. Akinyemi Akinyinka, the general manager of the agency, acknowledged the event but pointed out that as of the time of writing, the cause of the fire was still unknown.
There are ongoing efforts to determine the complete scope of the damage and potential casualties.
