First aircraft touched down at Ekiti airport
On Saturday amid much excitement, the brand-new Cargo Airport in Ado-Ekiti welcomed its first aircraft, NAF 930.
The aviation minister, Haidi Sirika, formally opened the airport on Saturday.
The governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, his wife, the deputy governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, the deputy governor-elect, Monisade Afuye, the minister for trade, industry, and investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, as well as other state officials, were on the ground to welcome the multipurpose commercial aircraft when it landed at around 10.20 am.
Flight Lieutenant Balogun piloted the aircraft that carried the delegation from the Federal Government.
People from the surrounding communities flocked to the new airport to witness history being made, making it a hub of activity.
