Five rescued as a three-storey building collapses in Lagos
On Saturday, it was reported that a three-storey building collapsed on Freeman Street, Lagos Island. The rescue team at the incident declared that an 18-year-old boy identified as Mathew was one of the five persons that were rescued. According to the information gathered, the building was undergoing conversion before its collapse which led to the death of four people.
Mathew, who was the last survivor, was rescued from the ground of the building and was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment. Reports say that the building collapsed during a downpour at about 1:45 pm on Saturday. The three-storey building was handed down to family members and some of them agreed on converting it which resulted in some of the family members hiring a developer who is going to convert the building into a bungalow before its collapse.
According to some family members, the site had been marked for demolition by the Lagos State Buildings Control Agency LABSCA.
