Former Anambra deputy speaker Oseke dies aged 64
Harford Oseke, a former deputy speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, has away. He was from Umuawulu in the Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, and he was 64 years old.
Uncertainty surrounds the circumstances of his death.
Oseke was reportedly ill and hospitalised prior to the news of his death breaking on Monday, according to some sources, while others state that he passed away while exercising as usual in Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka on Monday.
In addition to being a graduate of law, he had just finished his doctorate in public administration at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka. Oseke began his political career with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which was in power at the time.
He ran for office and was elected to the Anambra State House of Assembly, where he first held the position of Majority Leader before being chosen as Deputy Speaker under Peter Obi's leadership.
Although neither the family nor the state government have released an official comment, a close relative—who asked to remain anonymous—said that this death was just one more in a long line of honourable leaders that Anambra had lost recently.
