Former Delta commissioner Joan Onyemachi kidnapped in Asaba
Joan Onyemachi Mrapkpor, also referred to as "Ada Anioma," was a former Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education.
It has been claimed that she was abducted on Tuesday. The former House of Representatives member was kidnapped inside her church during a service. She had recently resigned her appointment to allow her junior brother to run for local government council leadership.
According to reports, the unsightly occurrence happened within her church in Asaba, Delta State, outside of Delta Broadcasting Service Street.
An eye witness said: “There was a commotion inside her church close to police headquarters, DBS Road. We all ran due to the shooting. It just happened about a few minutes ago. One aide was shot dead and a security personnel is presently unconscious.”
When contacted, SP Bright Edafe, the public relations officer for the Delta State Police Command, verified the occurrence and stated that one of the command's officers had been killed by the kidnappers.
But according to Edafe, investigators are pursuing the kidnappers. In due course, he promised to provide further information about the situation.
