Former Ghanaian footballer Lamptey narrates his reaction after discovering that the three children he raised with his kids weren't his
Former Ghanaian football player Nii Odartey Lamptey has opened up about how deeply his discovery that the three children he raised with his ex-wife, Gloria Appiah, were not his own children caused him immense emotional distress.
In a recent interview, Lamptey stated that the realisation brought him to the verge of hopelessness and that he even considered taking a gun to ease his agony.
In a video that was about ten minutes long and featured an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV on YouTube, Lamptey described the emotions. He also talked about how, using a Nigerian passport, he was brought into Belgium illegally.
The video was posted earlier this month, according to PUNCH Online, but Pulse Ghana translated it from Ghanaian to English on Tuesday.
The terrifying moment the 49-year-old forward from Anderlecht and Aston Villa realised the three children he raised with his ex-wife were not biologically his own was shared.
Lamptey considered taking dramatic measures, leaving a gun in his car, but he thought better of it after considering his future.
Following the disclosure in 2013 that Lamptey was not the biological father of the children, he and his ex-wife Gloria Appiah parted ways.
This was verified by DNA testing. Their 20-year marriage fell apart as a result of the issue, but a protracted legal battle ensued because of the couple's differences regarding Miss Appiah's compensation.
