Former NLC president Takai Shamang abducted in Kaduna

In his hometown of Biniki, in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna state, Mr. Takai Shamang, a former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has been kidnapped. 

The 78-year-old Shamang also served as the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers', or National Union of Electricity Workers', president general from 1982 to 1989. 

His daughter, Mrs. Grace Abbin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), stating that her father, 78, was kidnapped on Friday night at around 8:00 p.m. from his home in Biniki. 

Shamang is the President and Founder of the GAWON Foundation, also referred to as Gantys Aid for Widows, Orphans, and Needy Foundation.
