Four more commissioners resign from office in Rivers
Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has received resignations from four more commissioners in his cabinet.
The resignation is not unrelated to the problems that are trembling the state's leadership as a result of the dispute between Chief Nyesom Wike and Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
According to a source, the resignation followed hints that the governor was planning to remove all of Wike's appointees from his cabinet as soon as possible.
Prof. Zacchaeus Adango, SAN, the state's attorney general and commissioner of justice, announced his resignation earlier on Thursday.
Chief Emeka Woke, the Commissioner for Special Projects, was rumoured to have resigned, but as of the time of publication, no formal letter had been received to corroborate the information.
However, the resignations of Commissioners Dax George Kelly for Works, Isaac Kamalu for Finance, and Inimie Aguma for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation have been submitted.
With this, the governor's aides have now quit five times since Thursday morning.
Kelly stated that his choice was motivated by conscience in a letter he wrote to the governor via the Secretary of State's office.
“My decision to resign is anchored on my conscience, personal philosophy, and professional ethics. This decision was taken after deep introspect.â€
He was grateful to the governor for giving him the chance to work in his cabinet and serve the state.
