Four people rescued as building collapses in Abuja
A portion of a two-story residential apartment building in Abuja fell on Saturday morning, trapping several individuals under the debris. Four people have since been freed.
This occurred less than twenty-four hours after a school building in Plateau State collapsed on students, leaving twenty-two dead and one hundred and thirty-two injured.
Additionally, another structure at Unity House, Area 11, Garki, in Abuja collapsed eleven days prior. In the Federal Capital Territory, the collapsed structure is situated next to the Cupid Hotel at Sultan Dansuki Road, Phase 2, Site 2, Kubwa, Bwari Area Council.
Bystanders alerted the FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD) to the situation, and at approximately 6.45 am, a distress call was placed on the 112 emergency toll-free line. The Kubwa General hospital is now home to two of the rescued victims.
There is still a search going on for anyone else who might be stuck in the fallen structure. Before being converted for residential use, the 45 self-contained rooms in the collapsed building were used as a hotel.
