Four suspects arrested for oil theft in Rivers
Four alleged oil thieves were detained by Nigerian Navy agents in the creeks of the Krakrama hamlet in the Degema local government area of Rivers State.
At one of the illicit bunkering locations, Commodore Suleiman Ibrahim, commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder, revealed this to reporters.
Ibrahim claimed that the four suspects were apprehended while being shown around unauthorised oil refinery facilities in the Krakrama creeks.
He promised that the four apprehended crude oil thieves would be brought before the law by the Nigerian Navy.
The NNS Pathfinder commander added that the Nigerian Navy was working with sister organisations to identify people responsible for refining crude oil in the creeks near the Krakrama settlement.
According to Ibrahim, the Navy would keep guard over vital national assets against vandals and thieves who steal crude oil in the state.
He added that the illegal pipes used to syphon crude oil from the area have been demolished and evacuated by the security agency.
