FRSC places ban on rotational license plate
The restriction on rotating license plates has been made public by the Federal Road Safety Corps.
It was learned via a statement released on Tuesday by the Assistant Corps Marshal, Bisi Kazeem, that the FRSC made the declaration in response to the widespread distribution of a video showing a car with revolving license plates that had distinct information on each side.
The FRSC was made aware of a video that was going around on social media that showed a moving car with rotating license plates.
“The vehicle number plates on display are KUJ-304BV, while the other side which was automatically flipped carries a number tagged presidency with the following details, 01B-266FG,†the statement read partly.
As the FRSC noted that it did not produce a number plate with such double features, adding "only one number can be assigned to one vehicle and its owner at the same time," Ag. Corps Marshal Dauda Biu has ordered a thorough investigation into the trend.
"The FRSC recently published a public notice on the mainstream media urging Nigerians and the driving public to avoid making assumptions about vehicles with illegal number plates because their owners are frequently unregistered and harbour dangerous intentions.
The statement said, "The Ag. Corps Marshal is also utilizing this medium to caution Nigerians against copying the same as it is deemed criminal conduct and has its place in law.
