Fubara suspends Rivers LG chairman Otonye Briggs
Otonye Briggs, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Akuku-Toru Local Government Area in the State of Rivers, has been suspended effective immediately by the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.
Fubara announced the order in a statement delivered to newsmen on Tuesday in Port Harcourt by his media assistant, Nelson Chukwudi.
The governor has suspended the CTC Chairman without providing an explanation, and Hon. Bitebobo Nelson Amieye has taken his place.
The statement read, “The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Hon Barrister Otonye Briggs, has been suspended with immediate effect.
“The Governor has directed Hon Bitebobo Nelson Amieye, to immediately take over as Chairman.
“Barrister Otonye Briggs is hereby directed to hand over all council property in his possession to the Caretaker Committee Chairman.”
