Gas plant gets destroyed by fire near redemption camp
In the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, a gas plant close to the Redemption Camp at Mowe Bus Stop has been completely destroyed by fire.
According to information obtained by The PUNCH, the explosion has spread fear throughout the neighbourhood as locals and employees at various institutions have been running helter-skelter to be safe.
A local neighbour who only gave her first name as Bola said the fire began at 10.30 am and that the plant burst outside the camp and the police station there.
“We were indoors when we suddenly heard the explosion, and everybody ran out to know what was going on. As I speak to you, the location of the explosion is burning,†Bola said.
The event was reported to our correspondent by Nosa Okunbor, a spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.
He said, “We are already on our way and the location of the explosion that we got was Redeemed Camp, Mowe Bus Stop.â€
