German Police start investigation into death of a 3-year-old child
Authorities announced on Friday that Saarbrücken police in western Germany have launched a criminal inquiry into the death of a 3-year-old child and the injuries sustained by her mother and 1-year-old sister after they fell from a building walkway.
Friday, a spokeswoman stated.
Falk Hasenberg told dpa that the 38-year-old mother was a suspect in a murder and attempted murder.
The second girl was generally unharmed, but the mother suffered significant injuries after falling from a height of about five meters.
Late on Thursday, the lady is said to have thrown her daughters off the parapet before leaping herself.
Due to injuries, the three-year-old passed away at a hospital.
The kids, according to the police, were too little to successfully scale the railing of the parapet on their own.
There were signs, according to Mr. Hasenberg, that the mother experienced psychiatric problems.
He described the setting as a pathway protected by metal railings that connected a garden and an apartment building's upper story.
The victims landed on something solid.
Around 9:00 p.m. (1900 GMT), when the father, the mother's parents, and other family members were present, the incident was first reported.
Everyone present was questioned by the police.
