Gombe ASSU supports roll-over strike

The Academic Staff Union University at Gombe State University claims that only the university's Senate has the authority to approve the management's decision to reconvene 100-level pupils for academic purposes.

The branch supports ASUU's roll-over strike, according to a statement released by the Chairman, Dr. Suleiman Jauro, and the Secretary, Mohammed Ndogu, who also noted that the industrial action is still in place at the institution.

According to our source, ASUU began engaging in industrial action on Monday, February 14, 2022, at the University of Lagos in Nigeria as a result of the Federal Government's failure to uphold its end of the bargain.

The statement partly read, “The attention of the union has been drawn to a purported circular by the management of the university asking 100 level students to resume studies and some widely circulated newspaper publications that academic activities have resumed in Gombe State University. This information in the circulated newspaper publication is wrong.

“We also wish to observe that according to the Gombe State University Bye-laws, only the Senate is vested with the powers to approve the calendar for the commencement and end of academic activities of the university, and this has not happened in the university as of today.”

"Lecturers working under the aegis of the ASUU Gombe State University Chapter will not engage in any academic pursuits until, by God's grace, the ongoing nationwide roll-over strike action is lifted. Please use this information wisely to save your time, energy, and limited resources, students and parents/guardians, the statement advised.
