Gombe governor approves appointment of 109 directors
Muhammadu Yahaya, the governor of Gombe State, has given his approval for the state's civil service to hire 109 substantive directors.
Twenty-three members of the administrative cadre make up the newly appointed directors, with the remaining members being selected from a variety of professional cadres in various ministries, departments, and agencies.
The appointments came after a stringent, merit-based selection procedure designed to guarantee that only the most qualified officers hold the highest positions within the service, according to Mrs. Rabi Jimeta, chairperson of the Gombe State Civil Service Commission, who communicated the governor's assent on Friday.
Recall that as part of his administration's commitment to bolstering the civil service and improving governance, Governor Yahaya authorised the recruitment of 102 substantive directors in 2021, including 31 from the administrative cadre and 71 from other professional cadres.
She added, “the selection process included a capacity-building workshop, a written examination, and a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for 172 Deputy Directors across various administrative and professional cadres.
“The final selection was based on performance, experience, and dedication to duty, in line with established civil service regulations.”
